NCERT To Bring Balanced Perspective Of All Genders In New Curriculum, Textbooks: Parliamentary Panel
The NCERT will work towards bringing a balanced perspective of all genders in the new National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and in its textbooks, according to a parliamentary committee. The panel had earlier recommended that to address the under-representation of women and girls in school textbooks or them being depicted only in traditional roles, a thorough analysis from the view point of gender bias and stereotypes should be undertaken by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). It had also said efforts should be made to make content portrayal and visual depiction gender inclusive. On Monday, the report of the Reforms in Content and Design of School Text Books Committee on the action taken by the government on its recommendations and observations was tabled in Parliament.

NCPCR summons Byju’s CEO over charges of course hard-selling, student exploitation
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on December 16 issued a summon to BYJU’s CEO Byju Raveendran after cognisance of media reports that alleged that the ed-tech company is exploiting students by hard selling and misselling its courses.

In the said media report, some parents claimed that they were exploited and deceived and had put their savings and future in jeopardy. The report also mentioned that the ed-tech platform has been “actively tricking” customers to enter into loan-based agreements for courses which may not be refunded if the customer wished to do so. Further, BYJU’s had reportedly received several complaints from the parents of children but had not done anything about them. Observing that BYJU’s is indulging in malpractices to lure parents and children to enter into loan-based agreements, thereby exploiting them, Byju Raveendran has been asked to appear in person before the NCPCR on December 23. On December 23, Raveendran will be required to produce “details of all the courses run by BYJU’s for children, the structure of these courses and the fees details, the number of students currently enrolled get more info in each course, the refund policy of BYJU’s, the legal documents regarding the recognition of BYJU’s as a valid here ed-tech company and all other relevant documents regarding the claims made in the media report”. He will also have to explain the discrepancies in relation to the said matter. The NCPCR also warned that if BYJU’s CEO fails to comply with the order, he will be subjected to the consequences of non-attendance.

RMRC Bhubaneswar designs online course ‘One Health’
ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) Bhubaneswar has designed and developed an online course ‘One Health’. This course gives a brief history and evolution of One Health concept, which means you are healthy if all around you, including animals, are healthy.
This course recognizes that the health of people is connected to the health of animals as well as the environment website and some diseases that are shared between animals and people known as zoonotic #Chief Minister diseases. Knowledge on zoonotic diseases, current scenario of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, measures to control and ways to reach out to community is part of the course with alignment to public health policies, said ICMR-RMRC Bhubaneswar director Sanghamitra Pati, who is the principal investigator of the course.

Liberalisation of education in India will increase TNE enrolment

MP govt to cover fees for engineering, medical, law education for students scoring above 75% in Class 12 board exams
The Madhya Pradesh government stated on Sunday that it will cover the costs of engineering, medical and law students who received more than 75% marks in their Class 12 board exams. MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that he already awards laptops to students scoring above 75% in their board exams. Now, he declared during check here a speech that the state would cover the costs of attending law school, IIT, engineering school, and medical school. Additionally, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh awarded scholarships for students who earned more than 70 points in Classes 10 and 12. The CM also announced that the government of Madhya Pradesh has also agreed to build playgrounds in 110 villages.
